T-Shaped Uterus: A Problem That May Affect Reproductive Outcomes

A T-shaped uterus, also known as a dysmorphic uterus, has been associated with infertility and an increased risk of miscarriage.A multicenter study led by Dr. Luis Alonso evaluated 100 women—50 with a normal uterus and 50 with a hysteroscopically confirmed T-shaped uterus—using 3D ultrasound. The researchers identified characteristic narrowing of the uterine cavity in women with a T-shaped uterus.

A multicenter study led by Dr. Luis Alonso evaluated 100 women—50 with a normal uterus and 50 with a hysteroscopically confirmed T-shaped uterus—using 3D ultrasound. The researchers identified characteristic narrowing of the uterine cavity in women with a T-shaped uterus.

These findings led to the development of the “Rule of 10,” a simple ultrasound criterion designed to facilitate the diagnosis of T-shaped uterus using 3D ultrasound.
